Our Mother’s Day magic at Hammersmith Nursery, began with a warm welcome as we invited our lovely Mums into the classrooms. The children rushed over with beaming smiles, wrapping them in cuddles and kisses before proudly guiding them around to admire the beautiful decorations they had helped to create. Their joy and gratitude filled the air, setting the tone for a truly special afternoon.
We began our celebration with a delicious homemade spread. The room soon filled with cheerful chatter as families enjoyed a cold buffet of sandwiches, crisp vegetable crudités, colourful fruit salad, and a delightful carrot cake. Once everyone was happily full, we invited the children and their Mums to take part in a selection of heartwarming activities.
The children lovingly took their Mums by the hand and led them to the activity tables. Some explored making soft, squishy playdough, others enjoyed decorating cupcakes with icing and bright sprinkles, while many got stuck into crafting sparkling heart pictures with tissue paper and glitter. It was a joy to see the laughter and shared creativity as Mums and children engaged together.
Our afternoon tea party ended with a very special singing session led by Malcolm. As the gentle notes of the piano filled the room, the excitement was palpable. The children sat beautifully and began with their welcoming song, “Hello Mummies, how are you?”, encouraging their Mums to join in with smiles and actions.
They followed with a rendition of “Frère Jacques”, celebrating the rich diversity of our Willows family and the many languages spoken within our nursery community. Next came the joyful song “BINGO”, performed with energy and enthusiasm, and finally, the children sang “I Love My Mummy” – a truly touching moment that left many Mums teary-eyed as the little ones formed heart shapes with their hands.
It was a beautiful afternoon at Hammersmith Nursery – one filled with love, laughter, and memories that our children and their Mums will treasure forever.
